"The Strangers: Chapter 1": A Weak Foundation for the Lionsgate Reboot Trilogy

Renny Harlin’s reinvention of The Strangers feels very akin to Gus Van Zant’s Psycho remake: a shot for shot remake. Although some of the story beats are altered and the promise is presented for the remaining two chapters, The Strangers: Chapter 1 is an unnecessary and forgettable remake to start off this new trilogy.
