A sepia tone blazes across every inch of the screen to reveal the film's hero: Bass Reeves. Bass Reeves is more than the subject of the movie in question. He is more than the central figure in the opening prologue to HBO's Watchmen. He is the unsung American hero that redefines what Justice means. In part one, we're addressing the not so pleasant beginnings of Bass as a child, born into slavery, and ultimately forced into the Civil War. A man who ultimately forged, for himself, a larger than life mythology.
