[Fantasia Fest 2021 Capsule] “We’re All Going to The World’s Fair”: Missed Opportunity at Best

(Editor’s Note: this is an abbreviated “capsule” style review. The author may choose to share his full thoughts in a later podcast episode, but the review has been shortened to provide a shorter critique to build excitement for additional publicity regarding the film at the request of the studio.)

Review: We’re All Going to the World’s Fair chronicles a young girl (Anna Cobb) who embarks on a new viral challenge that promises to change you. Subsequently, she documents her entire process. Cobb is the best thing the movie has going for it. Making her cinematic debut, the young actress leaves quite the impression and also knows how to carry a movie. The color palette which accompanies the film is vibrant, resulting in a lively, appealing film. Unfortunately, the remainder of the film doesn’t quite get that memo. Fair presents an alluring mythology but fails to actually do anything with it.

Rorschach Rating:

Mental Health Moment: Without giving too much away, there is a secondary character introduced within the film’s second act. They are considered for the mental health of Casey, Cobb’s character in the film. In our age of social media, it’s incredibly easy to disappear within the confines of our phones. We get so wrapped up in everything else that we can sometimes neglect our mental health. Listen when others dare to speak into your life. They can sometimes see things about us we fail to see ourselves. Humble yourself and have these hard conversations. Your mental health might thank you.
