EPISODE 189: US
IN THIS EPISODE…
Welcome to another adventure in the multiverse! For this adventure, we’re enlisting the help of our resident movie man, Dan Rockwood, to dissect the latest nightmare from Jordan Peele, US. US is the second film from the Academy-Award winning writer- director, Jordan Peele, and stars Lupita Nyong’O & Winston Duke of Black Panther.
BEFORE THERE WAS US…
It’s been a year and a half in the making and before we dive into the complex cinematic nature that is Us - we’re discussing the historic merger between Disney & 21st Century Fox. Announced back in the December of 2017, rumors started to swirl about the possibility of Disney buying Fox. By early 2018, those rumors proved to be true and we’ve been waiting to hear something official. As of March 20th, 2019 - purchased for a grand total of $74.3 Billion - Disney purchased Fox. It is now official. We felt we had to discuss it briefly as the future of the MCU, Alien & Predator movies & more are affected. Make sure you guys leave comments below and let us know what you think of the merger?
THE COMPLEX NATURE OF BEAUTY
Jordan Peele is a pretty complex creator. Having spoken on social issues with his debut in Get Out; many thought his follow-up would do the same. He did not disappoint at all. Us presents a narrative that speaks on some many different social issues. Everything from conspiracy theories to the treatment of our veterans. There is so much within this film that we couldn’t fit it all into one episode. While this episode we are looking at the significance of white rabbits, Jeremiah 11:11 and more -we’ll be back later in the year to dive into more of this complex and beautiful story.
