IN THIS EPISODE…
Welcome to another adventure in the multiverse! This trip is gonna take us to some pretty weird places. Journeys are no fun to take alone though. For this adventure we’re joined by Gal Walks into a Comic Shop podcast. Bob and Barbara are the hosts of the show. In one corner we have Bob - a life long comic fan. The other corner, we have Barbara, a blossoming fan of the medium. Gal is the exploration of Bob introducing Barbara to every corner that comics has to offer. To hear their catalog, click here.
THE SCISSOR MEN ARE COMING!
When the dominators came to the DC Universe, they changed things. One of those things just so happened to be the end of the Paul Kupperberg’s era on Doom Patrol. In exchange, we are given the legendary run of Grant Morrison. Starting in issue #19, Morrison successfully not only reunited the Doom Patrol but build new characters like Crazy Jane. Morrison tells an emotionally, psychological arcs between the characters like Robot Man, Negative Man (or Woman), The Chief and More. The heroes aren’t the only ones told with beautiful grace, Morrison crafts amazing villains as well. Antagonists like The Scissor Men, Brotherhood of Dada, Mr. Nobody & more. This episode covers issues 19 - 30.
I’M ON A BOAT!
In this episode, we’re introducing a new segment that will focus on film reviews. For this episode, we’re talking about Serenity. Full disclosure, we’re talking about the Matthew McConaughey movie and not the Firefly sequel. To read our full review, click here.
Serenity (2019), is a strong sail but can be set on some rocky waters. The first act of the film feels like a drunken montage aiming to pass itself off as character development. Not to mention, you have an antagonist that falls a bit flat by Jason Clarke. However, its’ anchored by strong, emotionally driven and often intense performances by Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway.
